NEW INDICATION & DOSAGE
Prevention of surgical bleeding in patients with mild to moderate and severe von Willebrand disease--
Adults and children: For emergency surgery, 50 to 60 international units/kg I.V. For non-emergency surgery, calculate loading dose:
target peak plasma von Willebrand factor:ristocetin cofactor (VWF:RCo) - baseline plasma VWF:RCo × body weight (kg) ÷ by incremental in vivo recovery (known as IVR) = required VWF:RCo factor (in international units).
   Give 2 hours before surgery and then every 8 to 12 hours for up to 3 days postoperatively. Base maintenance dose on patient response and plasma VWF:RCo factor levels.
