INDICATIONS AND DOSAGES
To prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis caused by G1 and non-G1 types--
Children ages 6 to 24 weeks: Give first 1-ml dose beginning at age 6 weeks. Allow at least 4 weeks before giving the second 1-ml dose. The two-dose series must be completed before age 24 weeks.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND CAUTIONS
Contraindicated in patients with a history of uncorrected congenital malformation of the GI tract; previous hypersensitivity to any component or latex rubber, or acute diarrhea or vomiting.
Use cautiously in patients with primary or secondary immune deficiencies and chronic GI disorders.
INTERACTIONS
Drug-drug.
Immunosuppression therapy: May decrease immune response to rotavirus vaccine. Use together cautiously.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
CNS: fever, fussiness, irritability.
GI: vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea.
Respiratory: cough, running nose.
Reactions may be common, uncommon, life-threatening,
or COMMON AND LIFE-THREATENING.
