AVAILABLE FORMS
Inhalation aerosol: 80 mcg/actuation, 160 mcg/actuation
INDICATIONS AND DOSAGES
Prevention and long-term treatment of asthma--
Adults and children age 12 and older: If previously received bronchodilators alone, give inhaled dose of 80 mcg b.i.d., to a maximum of 160 mcg b.i.d.; if previously received inhaled corticosteroids, give inhaled dose of 80 mcg b.i.d., to a maximum of 320 mcg b.i.d.; if previously received oral corticosteroids, give inhaled dose of 320 mcg b.i.d.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND CAUTIONS
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of drug and in those with status asthmaticus or acute asthma attack.
Use cautiously in children, in pregnant or breast-feeding women, and in immunosuppressed patients.
Use cautiously in those at risk for decreased bone mineral density, glaucoma, or cataracts.
INTERACTIONS
None reported.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
CNS: dizziness, fatigue, headache
EENT: cataracts, conjunctivitis, dry mouth, dry throat, glaucoma, hoarseness, nasal congestion, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory infection, pharyngolaryngeal pain, oral candidiasis, sinusitis.
GI: nausea, gastroenteritis.
Musculoskeletal: arthralgia, back pain, extremity pain, musculoskeletal chest pain.
Skin: urticaria.
Other: impaired adrenal function, facial edema, growth suppression, hypersensitivity reactions.
Reactions may be common, uncommon, life-threatening,
or COMMON AND LIFE-THREATENING.
