INDICATIONS AND DOSAGES
Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS), including familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome and Muckle-Wells syndrome—
Adults and children age 4 and older weighing more than 40 kg: Give 150 mg subcutaneously every 8 weeks.
Adults and children age 4 and older weighing 15 kg to 40 kg: Give 2 mg/kg subcutaneously every 8 weeks; may increase dose to 3 mg/kg in children weighing 15 to 40 kg with an inadequate response.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND CAUTIONS
Use cautiously in patients with infections, a history of recurring infection, or underlying conditions that increase the risk of infection.
INTERACTIONS
Drug-drug.
Cytochrome P450 substrates (warfarin): May alter drug concentrations. Monitor patient closely.
Live vaccines: May transmit infection. Avoid use together.
Tumor necrosis factor inhibitors, other interleukin-1 blockers: May increase the risk of serious infections, including reactivation of latent tuberculosis. Avoid use together.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
CNS: headache.
EENT: nasopharyngitis, pharyngitis, rhinitis, vertigo.
GI: diarrhea, gastroenteritis, nausea.
Musculoskeletal: musculoskeletal pain.
Respiratory: bronchitis.
Other: influenza, injection site reactions, weight gain.
Reactions may be common, uncommon, life-threatening,
or COMMON AND LIFE-THREATENING.
