AVAILABLE FORMS
Tablets: 5 mg amlodipine/160 mg valsartan, 5 mg amlodipine/320 mg valsartan, 10 mg amlodipine/160 mg valsartan, 10 mg amlodipine/320 mg valsartan
INDICATIONS AND DOSAGES
Hypertension--
Adults: 5 or 10 mg amlodipine with 160 or 320 mg valsartan/day P.O. Therapy with the combination product should be started after patient is stabilized on each of the components.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND CAUTIONS
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the drug, in pregnant women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, and in breast-feeding women.
Use cautiously in patients with a history of renal impairment, congestive heart failure, or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy risk category: C (1st trimester), D (2nd and 3rd trimesters)
INTERACTIONS
Drug-drug.
ARBs and potassium sparing diuretics: Increased risk of hyperkalemia and heart failure. Use together cautiously and monitor serum potassium regularly.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
CNS: dizziness.
CV: edema.
GU: impaired renal function.
Respiratory: nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, dry cough.
Reactions may be common, uncommon, life-threatening,
or COMMON AND LIFE-THREATENING.
